The staff of our school is committed to providing a curriculum that follows the standards of the State of New Jersey and the ACTFL (American Council on the Teaching of Foreign Languages). Nora Awad

Frau Awad comes from Hamburg, where she attended business school.  She received her BA from Montclair State College.  She speaks German, English and Arabic, and has taught German Kindergarten in Cairo, Egypt.

Beate Buchmann
buchmann's picture

Teacher of  Level 1 class, for ages 6-8, Frau Buchmann-Sow is a native of Germany and has many years of experience in teaching, both in Germany and the United States.  She also earned the certificate in Montessori Education in 1998.

Margaret Denicola

Teacher of our Kindergarten classes (K1 and K2), for ages 3 to 5. Frau Denicola provides a great start in German to these youngest students. She has a BA in German and Economics from Rutgers University.

Irene Kaefer

Teacher of our higher level children and high-school age students. Frau Kaefer is fluent in German and Spanish. She provides students with solid training in conversation and grammar, and prepares students for the upper level exams. She has a BA from the William Paterson University of New Jersey.

Agata Kania-Cyburt

Ms. Kania-Cyburt is a native of Poland and has been a teacher of German since 1990. She has taught German in Elementary School and high school. She has a Masters Degree in Education from the Adam Michiewicz University in Poznan and the Pedagogical Institute in Erfurt. She is fluent in Polish, German, Russian and English. Ms. Cyburt teaches Level 2.

Ursula Konrad

Frau Konrad teaches the K2 class and children's level 4. She is a native of Germany and holds Master's degrees in English and Political Science from the University of Trier, where she also served as a Teaching Assistant in the English Department. Frau Konrad has managed major accounts for a well known translation service in New York City.

Barbara Lester
blester's picture

Principal and Teacher - shares a love for the language and culture with her students. A dedicated staff member, she works closely with the teachers of the school, along with the German Language School Conference and German government to provide a challenging and accredited program for our students. Frau Lester is a native of Germany. She has a Bachelor of Science from Rutgers and a Master of Arts degree in German Studies from NYU.

Brigitte Marten

1. & 2. Staatsexamen Freie Universitaet, Berlin
In 1984/85, Frau Marten started teaching German as an assistant teacher in London during a gap year while studying German and English at the Berlin University.  Since 1989 she has taught German in various places like Berlin, London and San Francisco.  She has resided in NJ with her family since 1997, raising two teenage children (16 and 18 years) and tutoring students in all levels of German.  She is currently employed at Green Meadow Waldorf School in NY.

Karin Nowak

Teacher of our Mommy and Me class for ages 2 and 3, Frau Novak provides songs, alphabets, colors, numbers and more in German to prepare children for K1 class.  She was born in America to German native parents and spent a lot of time in Germany.  She is fluent in German and English, and has an Associates Degree in Science from Queensborough Community College.

Sonja Rödiger-Radovic

Teacher of levels 5 and 6, Frau Radovic continues the deepening of the children's vocabulary and grammar. Frau Radovic is also a native of Germany. She has a degree in English and Russian from the Goethe-University in Frankfurt, as well as a teaching certificate for secondary education from Germany. In addtion, she earned a certificate in teaching ESL from Trenton State College, NJ.
