Teaching Staff

Beate Buchmann (Level 1) is a native of Germany and has many years of experience teaching in Germany and the United States.  She earned the Montessori Diploma in Germany and is working at a Montessori School in NJ.

Agata Kania-Cyburt (Levels 2 & 3) is a native of Poland and has taught German in elementary schools and high schools since 1990.  She has a BA in Education from the Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznan and a Master’s Degree in German from the Pedagogical Institute in Erfurt. She also has a NJ Teaching Certification and is fluent in Polish, German, Russian and English.

Margaret Denicola (K1 & K2) studied Economics and German at the University of Konstanz and has a BA in German and Economics from Rutgers University.  She was employed in the Corporate Banking division of Commerzbank AG in New York for many years.

Irene Kaefer (Levels 8-10: High School) is fluent in German and Spanish. She provides students with solid training in conversation and grammar, and prepares students for the upper level exams. She has a BA from William Paterson University of New Jersey.

Ursula Konrad (Levels 4 & 7) is a native of Germany and holds Master's Degrees in English and Political Science from the University of Trier, where she also served as a Teaching Assistant in the English Department. She has managed major accounts for a well-known translation service in New York City.

Katrin Medart grew up in Trier and studied German and Biology at the RWTH Aachen University. She finished her studies with a teaching degree for Middle and High School. She speaks German and English and worked as a teacher in Germany.

Antje Ballin grew up in Essen, Germany and started her professional career as a Global Account Manager after graduating from the University of Akron with a M.A.  Presently, she works as an Operations Manager for a German/American Asset Management Company in New York City.  Her love for German literature, culture, music, grammar she shares with her students each Saturday.

Gabriele Polacek, grew up in Duesseldorf, Germany, started her professional career as Sales and Marketing Manager for the German Railroad, Inc. and a Trade Show Representative for the German American Chamber of Commerce, Inc. in New York City. She received her BA of Education at Montclair University and has the New Jersey Teaching Certification. Since 2001 she works as an Assistant Teacher in River Edge, NJ and in  Emerson, NJ. She loves to work with children and likes to instill her passion for the German Language and German Culture.
